Today on our 2018 Mazda CX-9, we’re going to be doing a test fit on the Rola Atlas Roof Cargo Basket, which is part number 59043.This roof rack is a great accessory to have for your vehicle. It’s going to allow you to get any cargo, luggage, other sports and recreational gear out of your vehicle and store it on your roof so you have more space in your vehicle. It mounts to the roof rack of your vehicle. It’ll work with most of your after-market roof racks, whether you’ve got the aero bars like we have on this one, or if you have elliptical bars, round bars, or even square bars, it’ll work with those as well. It’s also going to work with most of your after-market .. most of your factory roof racks as well.If we zip up there and take a look at the inside, we’re going to see that it’s an open basket design.

We’re going to have 56″ to work with on the length, and on the width, we’re going to have 43-1/2″. So, that’s plenty of space to get your cargo stored. One really cool feature about this roof rack . about this cargo basket, excuse me, is we have crossbars that we can put in, or take out if we need to. Having those crossbars is going to allow us to mount any other accessories to our roof basket, whether we got a bike rack or a kayak carrier. But keep in mind that it needs to be the clamp-on style.

If you have any type of T-Track accessory, bike rack, or kayak carrier, it’s not going to be able to work in mounting to this roof basket. Now, it installs using four different clamps. I’ll come over here. We already have three installed. I’ll show you how to install the fourth one up here on the passenger front side. It’s going to have a couple of different components.

We have one already there. There’s one bracket that sits under the crossbar right here, and it’s going to sit on top of our roof rack crossbar. Now, the spread of this roof rack is set in stone, so we had to just kind of make adjustments. It doesn’t have to be completely flush with our crossbars, so both of them are going to be hanging off just a bit, but that’s okay. It’s no big deal. We’re going to take this other bracket right here, bring it up top, set it right there.

Try to fit those slots through, and once we get that, we can take our bracket. We’re going to take off one of the hand knobs. Once we take that off, we can slide one end up right here, and the other end, just slide it right on. Once we get that through, we’re going to push up, and we’re going to take the knob and begin to thread it on. There we go, just like that. We want to make sure they’re even before we tighten it down any more. Again, make sure this one bracket’s still under. Once you tighten it down, it’ll start to go into place. Now we’re just going to tighten down both of the knobs at the same time. Once you get it down as far as it can go, just give the roof basket a quick shake. Make sure it’s secure, and you’ll be all good. Now, the roof basket also does have a weight limit of 160 pounds, but you do want to be sure to double check with your vehicle’s owner’s manual, to make sure that your roof can handle that weight. Also, you want to double check and make sure that your roof rack can handle that weight, also keeping in mind that the roof rack itself does weigh 36 pounds. But that’s going to do it for our look at the Rola Atlas Roof Cargo Basket on our 2018 Mazda CX-9.
