Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we’re going to be test fitting the Kuat Vagabond X Roof Cargo Basket and Two Bike Carrier. Part Number: VX201.This cargo basket measures 52″ long by 41″ wide, so it has a wide area to store your camping gear, your sporting goods equipment, anything you want to keep out of the vehicle.Plus, it has two fork mounts up at the front here to install your bikes if you need to. There is an extension you can also purchase to make this a little bit longer if need be, and you can find that on etrailer.com, as well. It’s a very simply installation process, and it also has a nice aerodynamic shape to it. And it also has a fairing at the front as well, and that’s going to help cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive. It does lock into place and comes with the keys to do so. And it has a carrying capacity of 160 pounds. But you always want to double-check with your vehicles manual, to make sure your roof can take those weights. With it installed like this, we’re not going to have an issue of clearance between the rear hatch and the cargo basket itself.

As you can see there’s plenty of space in between.Let’s go ahead and show you how the last clamp goes into place. Let’s throw everything into place here. Now, you can already see the first step is we put this plastic spacer in between the basket and the roof rack itself.I’ll drop things over here. There we go. All right.

I’m going to climb up here real quick. So, our first step is we’re going to take our U-bolt, and slide it underneath. This U-bolt is padded and it has a rubber coating on the bottom of it here to help protect both your roof and the roof rack system that you may have, so that it keeps it from getting scratches. And then we’ll take our turn-knob here, and start tightening it down. Again, you can see how easy this is to install. Tighten it down until it’s nice and tight and it’s not going to move. Give it a good shake test. And then our final step is we’re going to take our top bracket here, push that into place.

There we go. We’re going to take our key to lock it in place. And now our cargo basket is secure and ready to load it up.And there you have it for the Kuat Vagabond X Roof Cargo Basket on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner.Here it is on our test course. We’ll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side-to-side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers.Next, we’re at the alternating speed bumps, which we’ll see the twisting action.

This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole, or driving over uneven pavement.
